Carroll D. “C.D.” Liverman Sr.

Mr. Carroll Dee “C.D.” Liverman Sr., 85, a resident of 6850 N.C. 99 Highway N. Pantego, N.C., died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven, N.C.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Union Grove Church of Christ of Pantego officiated by Scott Askew. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery in Pantego. Mr. C.D.’s grandsons and stepsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. C.D. was born in the Pungo Community of Pantego on July 3, 1925, son of the late Gilbert Rumley Liverman and the late Retha Delone Allen Liverman. He attended Pantego Schools and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II. He married the former Teresa Pacheco Vega on Oct. 25, 1997, who survives. Mr. C.D. worked in the steel industry and was owner/operator of Liverman’s IGA and Pungo Campground. He was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge No. 509 of Belhaven for over 50 years, a life member of the N.C. Bowhunters Association, a member of Ironworkers Local 79 for over 40 years and a charter member of the Pungo Ruritan Club since 1957.

Surviving along with his wife: Teresa of the home are two daughters: Patricia Gayle Floyd of Washington and Llewellyn L. Whirlow and her husband Terry of Raleigh; a son: Carroll Dee Liverman, Jr. and his wife Pat of Washington; a stepdaughter: Patricia Espinoza of Tijuana, Mexico; three stepsons: Jose Espinoza of Pantego, Miguel Espinoza of Wilson and Carlos Espinoza of Pantego a sister: Leadae L. “Sissy” Thayer of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother: Lester Lee Liverman and his wife Shirley of Chesapeake, Va.; 10 grandchildren: Christopher Brandon Liverman, Justin Woolard, Jared Floyd, Jordan Floyd, Jenna Floyd, Jeremy Gray, Trey Whirlow, Carolina Espinoza, Keisy Espinoza and Dyanara Espinoza and one great-grandchild: Elijah Woolard. Mr. C.D. was preceded in death by three brothers: Gilbert Weston Liverman, Melvin “Webb” Liverman and Harry Liverman and four sisters: Ida Garrett, Lenore Teske, Betty Stocks and Verda Allen.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 18, 2011, from 1:30 p.m. to the funeral hour at Union Grove Church of Christ.
