Jones jailed, Moore sought

On March 30, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny of a motor vehicle from a residence on Bonnerton Road in Blount’s Creek and an attempted fraud at a recycling business on U.S. Highway 17 in Chocowinity.
On May 25, Investigator Wesley Waters obtained warrants charging Cody Vance Jones, 20, of N.C. Highway 33, Blount’s Creek, and Byron Xavier Moore, 20, of Bonnerton Road, Blount’s Creek, each with one count of felony larceny of motor vehicle and one count of attempted obtaining property by false pretenses.
On Friday, Jones was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond. Moore remains at large.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Moore should call Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Callers do not have to give their names to receive rewards.
