Mrs. Mary Hill

Mrs. Mary Louise Brown Hill, age 88, a resident of 2318 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, died Friday morning, June 10, 2011, at River Trace Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Haw Branch Church of Christ and will be officiated by Jason Kirkman. Burial will follow in Haw Branch Church of Christ Cemetery. Ron Haselden, Jeff Hardy, Bryan Hill, Daman Tyndall, Zack Squires and Luke Meyers, her grandsons, will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hill was born in Eastman, Ga., on Aug. 30, 1922, daughter of the late Charles Russell Brown and Willie Etta Sapp Brown. On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Edmund Dumay Hill who preceded her in death on March 13, 1995. She was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ and the Washington Senior Citizens Group. As a nurse, Mary was a caregiver to many patients, family, neighbors and friends. Once retired after 30 years at Beaufort County Hospital, she continued to care for all. Upon retirement, Mary participated in the Senior Games and won numerous medals competing in sports as well as the arts. She was a talented artist with one of her paintings displayed in the N.C. Insurance Commissioner’s office. She also blessed many family members and friends with her paintings and other art works. She was a role model to all who knew her and will be truly missed by all.

She is survived by her son: Roger Hill and wife Liz of Chocowinity; her daughter: Norma Tyndall and husband Carl of Deep Run, N.C.; six grandchildren: Kim Haselden and husband Ron, Paige Hardy and husband Jeff, Daman Tyndall and wife April, Amanda Tyndall, Bryan Hill, Kelly Allen and husband Russ and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law: Ginger and Kent Lucas and two brothers: Lawrence Brown and Russell Brown.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Haw Branch Church of Christ and other times at the home of her son, Roger Hill located at 2318 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity.
