You cannot fly a banner above an American flag — flag rules. I saw there were nine times the flag would be up. Who will pay to take the banner up and down at $200 each time? Would this be the merchants or the artists? It better not be the city taxpayer.

In exchange for vacation days, the teachers will have students for no additional pay. How will the increase in the use of electricity, gas, food, the custodians, cafeteria workers be paid for? Will the taxpayer pay for it?

As I drove down Second Street by the courthouse, I saw a guy putting a metal door up and the wood door was against the building. The next day I went and touched around the windows, and it was vinyl. That is against the historic district guidelines. Editor’s note: The courthouse is not in the historic district; therefore it is not subject to those guidelines.

I would like to comment on the people who are complaining about the reduction in city utility rates versus those living in the county: You are on Washington Electric Utilities, but you also get Washington services. So, you need to take that into consideration when you are picked up by the EMS or helped out by the fire department.

I have to pay town taxes in the Town of Bath. Does that mean I get a 5 percent reduction on my electric bill?

If the City of Washington is so strapped for money, why did it lower electric rates by 5 percent only for those people inside the city limits? This is discrimination against county residents because they have no say so. Turnabout should be fair play. The county commissioners should lower rates for everyone except those in the City of Washington.
