It was good of the county commissioners to continue to fund their favorite nonprofits. It’s too bad they took more of my tax money to do it with. Now I don’t have any money left to donate to my favorite charities.

Can someone tell the residents outside the City of Washington how to petition the state to be able to hook up to Tideland electrical instead of Washington, so we don’t have to pay their tax?

I enjoy Bartow Houston’s column so much, especially the one on Tuesday, June 21. Keep up the good work!

Hood – to be a smart person, you amaze me. Please leave the police and sheriff’s work to them, the hospital problem to the doctors and work on the giveaway programs like Medicaid and welfare. And for taxes, vote for the sales tax. It is the only fair one.

Hood Richardson is overstepping his bounds. He has no law enforcement background and is only being political. I expect the criminals and druggies love him for his stand on unmarked cars.

In response to the comment about the local ECU club baseball players wearing their hats backwards: Until you win a national title with the weight of pure negativity on your shoulders, you have absolutely no right to tell a champion how to look. As a brother of one of the players, I must say that it is ridiculous how a supposed hometown supporter can ridicule these young men for simply placing a hat on their head the way they wanted to.
