Elizabeth Newberry “Tootsie” Cutler, 73, of the Terra Ceia community, died Thursday afternoon, October 20, 2011.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Billy Ray Askew. A brief graveside memorial will follow immediately in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Tootsie loved flowers and floral memorials are welcome and will be cherished.
The family also suggests consideration of memorial contributions in her name be made to Terra Ceia Church of Christ, 4509 Christian School Road, Pantego, NC 27860.
Mrs. Cutler was born in the Acre Station community of Beaufort County on July 18, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Nona Mayo and Joseph Henry Newberry. She married Richard Joe Cutler of Terra Ceia in December of 1956. He predeceased her in 1968.
Mrs. Cutler is survived by her three children: Cristi Cutler Harris and her husband Wallace of Pantego, Franklin Joe Cutler of Raleigh and Richard Glenn Cutler and his wife Julie of Cary. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jamie Cutler of Burlington, Kyle Cutler of Raleigh, Rick Harris his wife Kayla of Pinetown and Carrie Harris Reiners and her husband Dustin of Terra Ceia. The surviving great-grandchildren are Ty and Cameron Reiners and Vanessa Rae Harris. She is also survived by a sister and best friend: Frances Rabil of Louisburg and her husband Ed, half-sisters: Eula Cohron and Inez Harris and sister-in-law: Velna Newberry. There are many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will miss Tootsie’s love of life and warm and compassionate heart.
Mrs. Cutler was predeceased by her brothers: Joseph Henry Newberry Jr. and Gene Douglas Newberry and half-siblings: Ruth, Thorne and Clifton.
The family will receive friends Saturday night Oct. 22, 2011, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Tootsie’s daughter located 8698 Old 97 Road in Pantego.
