Esther Margaret Weltzer

Miss Esther Margaret Weltzer, age 93, a resident of Chocowinity and a former resident of Lackawanna, N.Y., died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Washington, officiated by Father Arturo Cabra. Burial will be held later at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, N.Y.
Miss Weltzer was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Oct. 9, 1918, the daughter of the late Edward P. Weltzer and the late Margaret Reid Weltzer. She was an executive secretary for the Erie County Medical Examiner’s office in New York, a member of the New York State Union and a member of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.
Miss Weltzer is survived by a brother: Louis A. Weltzer and his wife Mary Lou of Chocowinity, and eight nieces and nephews: Patricia Nagle, Mary Schrum, Robert Weltzer, Louis Weltzer, Michelle Lubnow, Margaret McCarthy, William Weltzer and Carrie Wood. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Weltzer, and a sister-in-law, Pauline Weltzer.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorial contributions in Miss Weltzer’s memory be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern N.C. Chapter, 3737 Glenwood Ave., Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27612.
