The Beaufort Soil and Water Conservation District is conducting a sign-up period for cost-share assistance through the North Carolina Agriculture Cost Share Program through Jan. 13, 2012.
Several conservation practices are available under the NCACSP program. Some of these include three-year conservation tillage, long-term no-till (a five-year commitment), precision nutrient management, water-control structures, animal-waste management, incinerators for dead animal disposal and lagoon closures.
The purpose of the cost share program is to assist landowners/operators with the installation of best-management practices that help to decrease the amount of sediment and nutrients entering surface waters and groundwater.
To apply for cost-share assistance, landowners/operators may stop by the district›s office, 155 Airport Road, Washington.
For additional cost-share information, call 946-4989, extension 3.
