Eric S. Raub

Eric Raub, age 67, a resident of Washington, passed away on Nov. 22, 2011, at home after a long battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Raub is survived by his wife, Mary; five children, Heike Sweeney, Eric Raub Jr., Ben Raub, Anderson Raub, and Margrethe Vagell; three stepsons, Christopher Hipsher, Jason Hipsher, and Steven Hipsher; and 12 grandchildren.
Eric was born Oct. 30, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He has one sister, Antoinette Allgood. His parents were Benjamin D. Raub and Lillebil Haaland.
He proudly served his country in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany, the Philippines, and Vietnam. After his service, he worked as an institutional trader on Wall Street for many years. He lived in Highland Falls, N.Y., Glen Ridge, N.J., and Basking Ridge, N.J., before retiring to North Carolina in 2004, where he loved working on his land, boating and hosting family gatherings.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at his home, officiated by the Rev. Polly Taylor. Military honors will be rendered. A catered reception will follow the services, also at the home.
