Dell B. Lane

Leona Udell “Dell” Boyette Lane, 72, ended her courageous battle with cancer on Dec. 5, 2011.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Second Baptist Church in Washington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Dell was born to the late Ephram and Sally Lucas Boyette in Waycross, Ga. She was a realtor with Aldridge & Sutherland in Greenville.

Dell is survived by her husband, D.W. Lane of Washington; four children, Dale Griffith (Bill) of Pell City, Ala.; Dixie Puckett (Claudia) of Norfolk, Va.; Barbara Little Tavenner (Bill) of Richmond, Va.; and Tom Little (Wendy) of Winterville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Kelly Allen (Margaret) of Brunswick, Ga.; two sisters, Jeanette Baker of Kasota, Minn., and Donna Popwell of Brunswick, Ga.; her mother-in-law, Ernestine Lane of Washington; brother-in-law, Larry Hoffman (Vicky) and sister-in-law, Georgia Hayes (Edison), both of Hampton, Va. Dell was preceded in death by her parents and son, Mark, and James T. Little Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889 or Second Baptist Church, 2516 West Fifth Street, Washington, NC  27889.
