Madge F. Norwood

Madge Futch Norwood, 85, formerly of Washington, N.C., died on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012. Madge was born in Rocky Point, N.C., to David and Roxie Southerland Futch on Dec. 26, 1926.
Madge was a loving mother and friend to anyone that she had the opportunity to come in contact with. Madge was a choir director and organist at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in China Grove, N.C., Mebane Memorial Presbyterian in Roxboro, N.C., as well as St. Andrews Presbyterian in Charlotte, N.C. She was a loving woman that would do anything to put a smile on the faces of her family and friends. Madge spent the last two years of her life at Carillon Assisted Living.
Madge is survived by one daughter, Peggy Norwood Stella and husband Paul of Durham, N.C.; sons Al Norwood and wife Marcia of Washington, N.C., David Norwood of Washington, N.C., Keith Norwood and wife Kim of Hillsborough, N.C.; sisters Diane Jennings of Raleigh, N.C., and Martha Hawkins of Magnolia, N.C.; grandchildren Jules Norwood and wife Arwen Parris, Kelsey Norwood, Bryan Norwood, Courtney Norwood and Anna Britton Norwoood. Madge was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Norwood and her brother Robert Futch.
A Celebration of Life Service will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, from Triangle Presbyterian Church, 5001 Tudor Place Durham, NC 27713 with pastor Raymond Cobb presiding. A private burial will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Madge’s name may be made to the Washington Presbyterian Church Music Ministry at 211 W. Second St., Washington, NC 27889 or Triangle Presbyterian Church Music Ministry at 5001 Tudor Place Durham, NC 27713.
