I’d like to thank the young officer with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office for not only having the sense but the courtesy for stopping on U.S. Highway 17 headed south on Saturday night at approximately 9:30 p.m. This officer not only removed large limbs and debris in the middle of the lane to avoid not only an accident or  causing damage to my car or any car. If not for him, I would have hit it — and I had a baby in the car — and had an accident, possibly. Thankfully, he was a distance ahead of me and saw the need. The officers protect us in more ways than we may think. Thanks again for your courtesy and your common sense.

I was in a tax-preparation office last week getting my taxes done, and I was amazed at the amount of homeowners in there who had insurance and had suffered a major loss because of their insurance and not knowing that their insurance didn’t cover what the damages were. I think they should have a class at Beaufort County Community College that teachers people about their insurance because no one knows. There was 12 head of people in the tax office who all had insurance losses that they thought they were insured for on their homes.
