The 72-foot-long, gaff-rigged schooner using Washington as its home port would indeed be good for the city’s tourism industry, but it would be even better for the owner of the schooner.

 

I’m wondering why there’s no sign on the waterfront side of the Chamber of Commerce building identifying it as the visitor Center. Also, the visitors approach from the water, generally, or walk that lovely boardwalk, and it just seems strange to have no identification.

 

What a wonderfully newsy edition you published Tuesday — four front-page stories on local news and a brief on John Edwards’ trial, an obituary on a 93-year-old former across-the-street neighbor, good article on ECU baseball, lots on the NCAAs, including brackets, great editorial page facing Bartow’s column and a good article on contaminated water at Camp Lejune. I reread your mission statement on Page 4A and marvel at how well you’re fulfilling it.
