Mr. Douglas McArthur “Mack” Bell, age 69, a resident of 71 Warf Road, Washington, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at his home.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Bill Mobley.

Mr. Bell was born in Washington on Jan. 25, 1943, son of the late Bertha Athelia Bell. He attended Beaufort County Schools. On April 16, 2002, he married Sylvia Ann Hudson who survives and was formerly married to Cheryl Midyette who also survives. He was a painter with Coastal Industries of Washington.

Surviving along with Mr. Bell’s wife Sylvia of the home is a daughter, Lisa Bell of Washington; two sisters, Teri Wemer of Norfolk, Va., and Barbara Ketchum of Mexico; two grandchildren, Douglas Odom and Ernest Odom, both of Washington; and a special friend and boss, Tim Coward. Mr. Bell was predeceased by two sisters, Margie Cox and Marsha Jordan; and a brother, Jackie Tetterton.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
