The statement about not being able to buy gas in Bath is incorrect. You may purchase gas at Bath General Store and, when The Quarterdeck reopens in a few weeks, you will be able to purchase it there. Get your facts straight, callers.

What’s up with the dump on Magnolia School Road not taking construction materials and wood scraps? Contractors are going to have to go way out to the landfill on Flanders Filters Road — homeowners, too. This isn’t fair. They should put that back to where we can dump wood scraps and construction materials there.

Evidently the person stating there was no gas in Bath does not shop locally or would know there is both gas and diesel in Bath.

While all the equipment is down at the boat ramp and all the beautiful additions are going on down there, why doesn’t the city clean up that unsightly growth between the new boat ramp and the bridge? It’s terrible looking and needs to be cleaned out.

I just read the column by William Kinney, and it is nothing but the truth. Way to go. That’s a great column.

I’d like to know if someone is driving in the left lane real slow, isn’t that impeding traffic which is against the law in North Carolina?

Although you never mention Hyde County anymore, except for the unemployment figures, I do love getting my paper everyday and Gillian Pollock’s columns, so keep it up.

For the Washington Daily News’ opinion page on March 27, the editorial cartoon “Gas prices up, job approval down” is absolutely magnificent. How did something like that ever get past your liberal editors?

The soldier that is accused of killing 16 civilians in a foreign country shouldn’t be given a prison sentence. Nobody knows what he saw or felt. I believe a medical honorable discharge with benefits is due him. We owe him that.

I believe in working hard and paying for my own way, and I don’t want a free ride. If I want to ride the ferry system, I’ll pay for it.
