Cynthia Wiggins Gentry, 60, of Indian Trail, N.C., died unexpectedly at home on March 28, 2012. She was born in Charlotte on March 28, 1952, to Betty Bryan Wiggins and Noah Wilson Wiggins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Gentry, who passed away in 2005.

Cindi graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and spent the remaining years in the Indian Trail, N.C. area. She was employed in the insurance industry for years, and later owned home improvement stores with her husband, John.

Cindi devoted herself to the care of her family and was famous for her southern cooking. She will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted sister, and special friend who always put the needs and wishes of others ahead of herself. The greatest pleasure in her life was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Karen and Brian Hester of Mint Hill, N.C., and Allison and Stuart O’Neal of Washington, N.C., and their children, Avery Hester and Austin Hester, and Riley O’Neal and Jack O’Neal. She is also survived by her stepsons and their families, Frank and Dee Gentry and John and Miriam Gentry Jr., and by her sisters, Sandra Wiggins and Patricia Nystrom (Ken Daily) of Charlotte.

A visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home in Weddington, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Weddington, NC 28104. This will be followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Heritage Funeral Home.
