I find it interesting that the City Council could not find any extra funding to build a new police facility, yet it suddenly seems to have an endless amount of funding available to build a proposed park. In these difficult economic times with skyrocketing fuel prices, would it not be more beneficial to city taxpayers to lower their city taxes, with all the savings coming from the reduction in the number of city employees? As for the proposal to buy the former Little Mint so fishermen may fish there instead of on the bridge where vehicle accidents involving some fishermen have occurred, why not start with reducing traffic accidents inside the city first by placing more police on the road enforcing traffic laws?

It does not matter to taxpayers whether private individuals make or lose money with their private investments. What does matter is whether the EDC prudently and profitably spent taxpayer money. The EDC did neither.
