An investigation into drug sales at Days Inn in Washington resulted in the arrests of five men. On April 3, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrant of Room 222 of the hotel and found 12 grams of crack-cocaine, $913 and drug packaging material including digital scales and plastic baggies, said a spokesman for the drug unit.

Two brothers, Lawrence Antonio Royster, 26, of 207 Green Forest Drive, Oxford, and Jamal Antonio Royster, 20, of 2537 Dalton Mill Road, Oxford, along with Angel Trevino, 21 of 2532 Dalton Mill Road, Oxford, were charged with possession with into to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to facilitate drug activity, conspire to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“It’s pretty common for people to use hotel rooms to sell drugs,” said the drug unit representative. “It’s not unusual to leave one county and come to another county where they think they’re not known.”

Drug unit investigators linked the Room 222 arrests with two men in another room at the hotel. A search of the second room revealed quantities of cocaine and crack-cocaine manufacturing material.

Michael Andre McDonald, 27, of 917 Carolina Avenue, Washington, and James Darnelle Freeman, 22, of 316 Van Norden St., Washington, were charged with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It’s common in arrests of this type to see another room set up where the drugs sold can be used by the buyers, according to the drug unit representative.
