Ms. Janie L. Tyson, 76, a resident of Bethel, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, following a short illness.

Janie L. Tyson

Ms. Tyson was a Greene County native having grown up in a farming family. She had been a longtime resident of Pitt County where she was a graduate of Stokes High School and played basketball. She had been a longtime member of Greenville Church of Christ.

A creative person by nature, Janie was an accomplished “how to” success. She completed an entire renovation of her family’s home place and it later became a featured story in the Daily Reflector. She enjoyed spending time at the river fishing and also enjoyed gardening.

Janie will be most fondly remembered by her family for her unconditional love and care she gave her children and family. A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Janie will be sorely missed by the many who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby, Gordon, Carson and J.W. Tyson.

She is survived by: sons, Ed Whitehurst Jr. and wife Wendy of Aurora and Judson T. Whitehurst and wife Beth of Greenville; daughters, Susan W. Crawford and husband Ronald of Bethel and Janene W. Cherry of Washington; brothers, Leroy Tyson and wife Linda of Baton Rouge, Calif., and Ennis Tyson of Belvoir; sisters, Anne Daniels of South Carolina and Dean Perry of Williamston; and adopted special family, Long Pham and family of Greenville.
