SOUND OFF: 4/22/12

Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

After reading the Thursday article about “Thompson to retire,” which included the cost for funding economic development in Beaufort County, it appears to me that based on a county population of 47,759, each Beaufort County resident contributed approximately $4, and each City of Washington resident, based on a population of 10,176, contributed approximately $9. Is my math wrong, or did each City of Washington resident actually contribute $13 for economic development? Another example of our City Council spending our taxes wisely, or maybe the City Council that city residents also live in Beaufort County and pay county taxes, too.

I’m very jealous of the bikers. I can’t ride with them — my knees won’t let me. I’d like to see them here every weekend or at least once a month.

I’m interested in knowing why y’all only print positive comments about things instead of negative comments. You’re a newspaper. You’re supposed to print both sides of the story, but it doesn’t happen.
