Given that there have been seven confirmed cases of rabies in Beaufort County since the first of the year, it is vital that pet owners ensure their pets are current on their rabies vaccinations, according to Beaufort County Animal Control.

In an effort to make these vaccinations more affordable to the public, Beaufort County Animal Control is sponsoring rabies clinics Saturday at the following locations:

  • Belhaven: behind Town Hall from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
  • Washington: Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
  • Aurora: Public Works Department from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
  • Chocowinity: D&H Home & Garden from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Rabies shots are $7 per animal for a one-year shot. If your pet had a shot last year, it must have the rabies certificate in order to be given a three-year shot. Bring your rabies certificate with you.
