Water-line procedures scheduled

As part of the state-required regular maintenance of its water-distribution system, the City of Washington will be feeding free chlorine into the city’s water system from Monday to May 14.

Some customers might notice a slight increase of chlorine taste and odor.

The city will test its fire hydrants the week of May 14.

Testing involves flushing water from fire hydrants. City water customers may notice some cloudiness in their tap water during the testing period because of sediment in the water lines. The discoloration is harmless and will clear up after a short period.

Anyone with questions about these procedures should call the city’s public-works office at 252-975-9302.
