Thank you so much for the wonderful concert given by the Beaufort County Choral Society presented on Saturday and Sunday, and for those of you who didn’t go you missed a wonderful performance.

You owe to yourself to visit the Student Art Show at the Civic Center. What a wonderful display of talented, budding artists. The show ends May 3, so don’t miss it.

I’m sure I speak for others who live along River Road as well when I say how thankful we were when they finally cleaned up at the end of River Road all that junk they had there. Well, they’ve gone right back to junkin’ it up again. So sad.

Could the Daily News find a small space anywhere in the paper to print the 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly TV listings for us elderly residents? It will help us a lot.

Hats off to Pitt County which recently solved five murders in less than 10 days. Really impressive. When I look at the Aurora area that has five unsolved murders — some of them years old — Beaufort County hasn’t managed to solve the first one. Gosh, maybe they should go up to Pitt County and take lessons or something. Just saying.

An unsecured bond is not based on race as a recent caller implied. A bond is issued to improve the odds that you will appear in court. People who have a job, own their home, have children in school and roots in the community are much more likely to do so than the street thug who owns a fancy car, three cellphones and 10 pounds of gold-plated jewelry.

Let’s do common sense 101. People receive unsecured bonds because they are people with family roots in our community and who work, hold down jobs, pay property taxes on a yearly basis, possibly raising their children, sending them to school each day. They are not a flight risk.

I have a wonderful solution on how to get this country of ours really started and out of the depression. Get rid of all the greedy, money-making, power people. Get gas down to $2.50 (a gallon), and this country will flourish like it hasn’t in 30 years. How to get rid of the money-grubbers? I don’t know, but it can be done, Believe me, if I were president, it would be done.

To keep crows and grackles away from bird-feeders, do not use any feed that contains corn.

Since a large portion of our population do not jobs and do not pay taxes, why is it helpful to know the total amount invested on economic survival divided by every human being in Beaufort County? Investments are not guaranteed, but doing nothing is.
