Arthur Williams, Holly Garner and Eric Rollins each captured Pigskin Pig-Out Pig Cookin’ Contest division titles during East Carolina University’s recent 29th-annual Purple/Gold Pigskin Pig-Out Party.

The Pigskin Pig-Out, which took place April 13-14 inside and adjacent to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, is a family oriented, festival-style event surrounding the annual ECU Purple/Gold spring football game.

Williams, Garner and Rollins were three of 45 entrants who hailed from communities all over eastern North Carolina and paid a $125 fee to compete for three championships and automatic qualification for the N.C. State Championship Cook-Off.

Williams and his Trademark Traders team, sponsored by Trademark Hess, topped all cookers in the 20-member gold division by compiling 1,036 points on a 1,080-point scale.

Garner, whose Barr-be-cuties squad was sponsored by Michael P. Hudson, took the purple division title with 960 points.

Rollins’ Pig’s On team made sponsor Family Foot & Ankle Physicians proud by winning the showmanship competition with 624 tallies.

Their 2012 success made Williams and Garner repeat winners as the pair had earned a previous Pigskin Pig-Out Pig Cookin› Contest championships.

All proceeds from the Trade Wilco Hess-sponsored pig-out benefit student-athletes through the ECU Educational Foundation, better known as the Pirate Club.
