The Washington waterfront will be on fire with activity today as the second-annual Marine Market kicks off on Stewart Parkway at 9 a.m. and the fourth-annual BoCO Music Festival starts up at Festival Park at 10 a.m.

The Marine Market will host an entire spectrum of vendors of marine and nautical equipment, antique boats and new boats, performance apparel, antique rods and reels as well as prepared seafood.

The BoCO Music Festival will be on fire, figuratively and literally, today with award-winning hula-hoopers Hoopdrum, performing a fire show at sunset. Surrounding Hoopdrum’s various shows are performances by the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association players, and into the night, performances by the critically acclaimed group Mandolin Orange, the indie/country sound of Mount Moriah, followed by the Wilmington roots rock band Onward, Soldiers. Wrapping up the festival will be Beaufort County’s own Carolina Still.

The North Carolina Estuarium will offer “Banjo Boat Rides” throughout the day. Throw roving pirates and George and Martha Washington impersonators in the mix and there will be plenty of photo opportunities.

The two-in-one festival is sponsored by the Washington Harbor District Alliance, the Beaufort County Arts Council and the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association.
