Southside High School juniors Kylson Blount, Chelsea Moore, and William Norfleet attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Award program March 30-April 1. The conference was held at the N.C. 4-H Environmental Education Center in Columbia.

RYLA is designed to help high-school students develop their leadership skills. Applicants must have leadership experience or potential, the ability to work in a group, an awareness of current events, strong communication skills, a good performance in school or on the job and an enthusiasm for sharing new-found skills with others.

The Washington (noon) Rotary paid expenses for the Southside students to attend.
