Arthur Maehue Bailey

Arthur Maehue Bailey, 80, a resident of Bear Grass, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose of Sharon Free Will Baptist Church in Bear Grass.

Maehue was born in Martin County on March 30, 1932, to the late Ophus and Fessie Whitehurst Bailey. He was married to Peggy Jane Mobley on Feb. 8, 1951, who preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 2008. He was a member of Rose of Sharon Free Will Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Bear Grass Volunteer Fire Department, where he retired with the rank of Chief. He retired in 1994 from S&M Equipment Company in Greenville after 25 years of service.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Mobley Bailey and his sister, Ruth Hazel Ward.

He is survived by his son, the Rev. Gary M. Bailey and wife Kristie and his daughter Beverly Bailey Rogerson and husband Glenn; his grandchildren, Suzanne Wise and husband Anthony, Justin M. Bailey, Kevin Rogerson and wife Lynn and Chad Rogerson; his five great-granddaughters, Alexis Wise, Morgan Wise, Miranda Blizzard, Shannon Wise and Shae Rogerson, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rose of Sharon FWBC Building Fund, 8000 Bear Grass Road, Robersonville, NC 27871, or the charity of one’s choice.
