Controlled drug buys, a traffic stop and a search warrant executed by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit led to the arrests of two Washington residents, according to a statement from the drug unit.

On May 10, the unit’s investigation culminated in an arrest warrant issued for Ronnie Victor Everett, 31, of 52 Trails End South. When investigators detained the vehicle in which Everett was riding as passenger, K-9 Elza, the unit’s drug detection canine, alerted to marijuana and crack-cocaine within the vehicle and a further search warrant executed at Everett’s residence yielded more of the same as well as two firearms, drug packaging material and over $3,800 in cash, said the press release.

Everett, a convicted felon, had a 1911 model handgun and a .30 carbine rifle in his possession, said a spokesman for the sheriff’s office drug unit.

Everett was charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of a firearm by felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling to facilitate drug activity.

Alishia Renee Harrell, 20, of 114 Paul St., was also arrested on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Harrell was driving the car at the time of the traffic stop by the drug unit, said the statement.

“She was riding around with (Everett),” said the drug unit spokesman. “We’ve seen them together before and when we arrested him, she was with him in the vehicle with the drugs.”

Everett was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under an $80,000 secured bond, Harrell, under a $3,000 secured bond.
