Myrtle Ladd Fisher

Ms. Myrtle Ladd Fisher, 82, a resident of Washington, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. There will be a celebration of her life at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by the Rev. Doug Batchelor. Special music will be provided by Pastor Jerry Waters and Kristy Surles. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with special music by Chris Alligood.  Myrtle’s grandsons and great-grandsons, Ed Dixon Jr., Lee Jackson, Matt Hammonds, Chase Sauls, Michael Lee Warren and Austin Woolard will serve as pallbearers. Aaron Sauls will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Laverne and Ed Dixon, 406 Camellia Dr., Macswoods, Washington.

Ms. Fisher was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Beaufort County, daughter of John Ladd and Rosa Woolard Ladd. She was married to Lattie Lee Fisher who preceded her in death. Myrtle was a lifelong resident of Beaufort County and was retired from Beaufort County Hospital. She was a charter member of Love Missionary Baptist Church.

Ms. Fisher is survived by her daughters, Linda Fisher Banks (Mayhew), Laverne Fisher Dixon (Ed) and Debra Kaye Fisher; her sister, Ruth Ladd Fisher; seven grandchildren, Amy F. Woolard, Denese E. Midyette, Anessia E. Hammonds, Tonya P. King, Lee Jackson, Dana D. Sauls (Kris) and Ed Dixon Jr.; eight great-grandchildren,; one step-grandchild, Karla Banks Perry (Doug),  and one step-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brother, James Ladd and her sister, Virginia Ladd Cherry.
