The Lil’ Washington Meditation Group will meet for the first time Monday, May 21, at Vidant Wellness Center.

Anyone interested in group meditation is welcome to attend the one hour sessions.

“It’s a very good way to collect your thoughts, to slow down,” said Dinh Rider, the group’s organizer. “It’s a great stress reliever and a good way to get in contact with God, spirit, energy.”

The sessions will be very loosely structured with a wide variety of meditative styles put into practice: breath work, counting, even walking meditation. Rider stressed that suggestions for different types of meditation will always be welcome.

“The reason I wanted to start a group meditation is because there’s a different energy you receive when it’s a group involved,” said Rider.

The meditation group is free of charge and is open to the public. It will be held at 7:15 p.m. every Monday at Vidant Wellness Center, 1275 Cowell Farm Road, Washington. The group will not meet Memorial Day Monday. For more information about the ‘Lil Washington Meditation Group, call Dinh Rider at 252-558-5024.
