Doris Blankenship Grant Burbage

Doris Ann was born in Asheville on May 29, 1943, daughter of William Clayton Blankenship and Marion Virginia McCurry Blankenship who preceded her in death. She graduated from Valley Springs High School, Arden & Skyland, N.C., in 1962. She retired from Capt’n Buc’s Galley in Pantego, where she was manager for 25 years. On May 5, 1962, she married Garland Samuel Grant. They had two children, Garland Samuel Grant III and Kerrie Lanette Grant. In 1979, she married James Talmadge Burbage Jr. They were married for 33 years.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her brother, Fred David Blankenship of Asheville and his wife and children; her sister, Marion Patricia Harris and her husband Mike and their children, all of Candler; her sister, Donna Kay Smith and her husband Randy and their children, all of Asheville, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, her granddaughter, Jamie-Lynn Keel and husband Paul and great-granddaughter, Karen Autumn Keel, and two grandsons, Brandon Ange and Jonathon-Taylor Grant.

She was most proud of her children and loved her grandchildren very much. She spoke of them often. She always found the goodness in everyone she met and never had an unkind word for anyone. She will be forever missed and always remembered by everyone who knew and loved her. Mama: Rest well and rest easy. We will meet again someday soon.
