Mrs. Rosalee Williams “Rosie” Floyd, 78, a resident of River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Washington died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, officiated by the Rev. Robert Whitley. Burial will be on Tuesday at Happy Valley Cemetery in Tennessee.

Mrs. Floyd was born in Carter County, Tennessee, on March 23, 1934, to the late Lee Williams and the late Gladys Florence Bowers. She married James Aaron Floyd, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Floyd was a homemaker who lived in Tennessee most of her life, moving to North Carolina in the early 1990s. For the past several years, Mrs. Rosie had been a resident at River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Washington, where she was very active in activities at River Trace. One of her greatest loves was making butterflies to give as gifts of encouragement.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by a son, Michael Dennis Floyd of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Desserree Markland and Kathy Harrell, both of Washington; a brother, Jerry Eugene Cole of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; a grandson, Dennis Floyd Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Floyd is preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Floyd; two brothers, Arvil Lee Cole and Tom Cole, and a sister, Violet Sprague.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
