This is for the person who called Sound Off comparing North Carolina to Mississippi: if you don’t like North Carolina and the way we hold our moral values, please move to California or somewhere else that would suit yours better.

I’d like to register a complaint. These people who keep calling in and bad-mouthing the paper, maybe they should get a Wall Street Journal or The New York Times and give our paper a rest.

To the person or persons who cut the poppies on Main Street in someone’s residential yard, you must try to remember that you need to ask the people first before you cut them. It was the wrong time to cut and you were trespassing and we are very upset because these were precious to us — they’re sentimental — so I wish that these people who did this would have asked us first. Thank you.

It is interesting that our county commissioners seem to be quite happy to take $300,000 of our money to give to their favorite charities, but they don’t seem at all disposed to giving our county employees a cost-of-living increase.

I do not have a degree in English, but I am a former secretary who feels your bold print headline in Saturday’s Washington Daily News was incorrect. It should have had the verb peek — spelled P-E-E-K.
