More than 70 people representing six area churches met at Asbury United Methodist Church on May 13 and bagged 14,536 meals to be shipped to Third World countries. Each meal package included rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix with 21 essential vitamins and minerals. Event coordinator Beverly Leggett reported that more than $3,600 was raised by the following United Methodist churches of the Greenville District: Bethany UMC, Chocowinity UMC, Ware’s Chapel UMC, Wharton Trinity UMC, Campbell’s Creek UMC and Asbury UMC. Dennis and Carol Brooks delivered the food and provided support from Stop Hunger Now to complete the mission. (Submitted Photo/Sam Grist)
