Idonia R. Andrews Dec. 6, 1927 — June 29, 2012

Mrs. Idonia Vann Rutledge Andrews, age 84, a resident of 5987 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, June 29, 2012, at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor George Daniels.
Mrs. Andrews was born in Pitt County on Dec. 6, 1927, daughter of the late Robert Palmer Singleton and the late Addie Louvenia Griffin. She attended Beaufort County and Pitt County Schools. Mrs. Andrews married James “Aldeen” Rutledge on Sept. 16, 1947, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1972. Later on Dec. 6, 1972, she married Jacob Alton “J. A.” Andrews who survives. Mrs. Andrews was a homemaker and a member of West End Baptist Church of Washington. She served her God in many capacities at her church including church secretary and singing in the choir.
Surviving along with Mrs. Andrews’ husband, A.J. Andrews of the home is a daughter: Brenda Lee and her husband Fred of Washington; two step-daughters: Shirley Williams of Williamston and Tammy Brown and her husband Larry of Washington; three grandchildren: Christy Lee, Gabrielle Williams and Brady Andrews; and five great-grandchildren: Abby Gountikas, Gracie Andrews, Libbie Andrews, Austin Andrews and Tyler Andrews. Mrs. Andrews was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Addie Singleton, her first husband Aldeen Rutledge, a granddaughter Michelle Lee Gountikas and all of her 13 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
