Harry E. Meisell

Mr. Harry Eugene Meisell, 61, a resident of 101 West River Acres Road, Washington, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, from the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington conducted by Derik Davis. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr. Meisell was born in Lampasas, Texas, on April 27, 1951, to Eugene Tillman Meisell and the late Doris Harrison Meisell. He was a 1973 graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor-of-science degree and earned a master’s degree in systems management from Florida Institute of Technology. Mr. Meisell served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1993, his logistical experience earned him a special appointment as the chief of the inaugural parade for President Bill Clinton. He had a great love for his country and worked on behalf of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom for the Department of Defense. On May 1, 1998, Harry married the former Jayne Asprey and together they enjoyed 13 years of marriage.
In addition to his father; Eugene Tillman Meisell of Columbus, Texas, and his wife, Jayne A. Meisell of the home, Mr. Meisell is survived by a stepdaughter, Brittany Fravel and her fiancé John Lane of Washington; a brother, David Meisell of Columbus, Texas; a nephew, Stuart Meisell of Columbus, Texas; and a niece, Evelyn Meisell of Austin, Texas.
The family will receive friends at the home located at 101 W. River Acres Road, Washington, NC 27889.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4200 Morganton Road, Suite 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
