Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

Too bad we can’t go back to the 1950s when Washington and Main Street was full of businesses. Washington was a good place to live back in the 1950s.

America deserves what it gets if we have to endure four more years of the current administration. The states created the federal government, not the other way around.

I’d just like to say what a wonderful column in Sunday’s paper, “Doing God’s work” by Gillian Pollock. She did a wonderful job, and I hope everyone read that. And you can tell that this is a young woman who loves her Lord.

I read in Saturday’s paper where the unemployment rate had jumped in Beaufort County. You can’t get blood out of a turnip. How do you expect to have jobs if there’s no industry in Beaufort County for people to work? When you complain about the unemployment, also complain about the commissioners who, for some reason, can’t bring industry to Beaufort County so that the people can find jobs.
