Mrs. Adam William Carlos

 

Madison Armstrong Murray and Adam William Carlos, both of Nashville, TN, were united in marriage on Saturday, May 26 at half after five beside the Tar River at historic Winfield, the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Chesnutt in Washington, NC. The Reverend Henry King Oehmig officiated. A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gray Murray, Jr. of Washington. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Barbara Armstrong Kessel of Raleigh, NC and the late Mark Armstrong of Tazewell, VA and the late Dr. and Mrs. William Gray Murray of Greensboro, NC.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James Edward Carlos of Sewanee, TN. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Nesbit McPherson of Sullivan, IN and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Brian Carlos of Kingsville, PA.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her family. Miss Elizabeth Alston Armfield of New York, NY served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Alexandra Leslie Speros of Nashville, TN, Harrison Page Blackford of Spartanburg, SC, Randall Peck Davis of Wilmington, NC, Mary Page Peck of Raleigh, NC, Nancy Catherine Graves, Katherine Elizabeth Hanlan, Ashley Liebert Holbrook, Rebecca Irene Kasper, and Alicia Marie Repeczky, all of Washington, DC.
Mr. Walter Patton Watkins of Sewanee, TN served as best man. Groomsman were William Irving Gulliford, III of Jacksonville, FL, Roland Arthur Knoll of Swannanoa, NC, Andrew Harris McCalla of Austin, TX, David Christian Michaels, Kevin Glenn Willis, both of Sewanee, TN, William Gray Murray, III of Charlotte, NC, Samuel Allen Murray of Washington, NC, Bachman Shirer
Smith, IV of Sullivans Island, SC and Andrzej Michael Zabinski of Atlanta, GA. The wedding was directed by Leslie Speros and music for the service was provided by Sweetwater String Quartet.
The bride is a graduate of Episcopal High School  in Alexandria ,VA and The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. She is an Editorial Associate at Dobie Media in Nashville, TN. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh at the 2006 North Carolina Debutante Ball. The groom  graduated from St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School in Sewanee, TN and The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. He is a portrait artist in Nashville, TN.
Last August a cocktail and dinner party was given in the couple’s honor by a group of friends of both the bride and groom at the home of Louis Smart in Washington, DC. On Friday, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was given by lifelong Short Drive friends of the bride at the home of Ms. Tracy Mayo. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents and held at the North Carolina Estuarium in Washington followed by an after rehearsal party at the Estuarium given by friends of the bride’s parents. On the day of the wedding, a riverside picnic, given by the bride’s grandmother, aunts and uncles, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Nash.
After a wedding trip to Isla Mujeres the couple will reside in Nashville, TN with their two beloved dogs, Franklin and Vassar.
