A heartfelt thank you

To the Editor:

As usual, the Pungo River Volunteer Fire Department should be given acknowledgement and praise for their devotion and care they so unselfishly show our community during times of emergencies. Within minutes following the July 1 storm, they were out checking the roads and clearing the highways of fallen trees. One tree on N.C. Highway 99 was entangled in the light lines. They directed traffic until the Tideland crew could do their job.

Thanks go to Tideland EMC for working to restore power to such a  wide area (Beaufort, Hyde and Washington counties). They never stopped and were ready when Dominion turned the power on 35 1/2 hours later.

Many thanks to both and Dominion.
