Brandy LeAnn Cherry and Joshua David Powell were united in marriage Saturday, October 20, 2012, at five in the afternoon, outside at the bride’s grandparents home in Washington, N.C. The double ring ceremony was officiated by James Shiver.
The bride is the daughter of Lee Cherry and the late Neva Pridgen Cherry of Washington, N.C. She is the granddaughter of John and Donna Cherry, and Joyce Pridgen and the late Eldred Pridgen, all of Washington.
The groom is the son of Ricky and Lisa Powell of Washington, N.C. He is the grandson of Marie Poore and the late Fred Poore, and Patricia Lewis and the late David Powell, all of Washington.
The bride was escorted by her father Lee Cherry. Her bouquet was of sunflowers surrounded by fall colored roses with rhinestone dragonflies.
Loren Cherry attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jessica Kirk, Jessica Ramirez, Jessica Woolard, Myra Steppe and Brittany Foster, all of Washington; Katelyn Sexton of Kill Devil Hills, and Joanna Swain of Manteo. The attendants wore claret colored halter dresses with cowgirl boots. Flower girl was Isabella Smith, cousin of the groom, of Washington, and ring bearer was Aven Harris, nephew of the bride, of Washington.
Ricky Powell served his son as best man. Ushers were Trae Cherry, Shelton Muse, Chase Sterrenberg, Andy Woolard, Royce Woolard and Justin Spruill, all of Washington, and Joseph Richter of Fayetteville.
Mistress of ceremony was Paula Cox.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington, hosted by John, Donna and Lee Cherry. Fall themed decorations and candles were used. The cake was a three-tiered carrot cake with fall flowers and dragonflies.
The after-rehearsal dinner was held on Friday at the Winchester Subdivision, with a tailgate party theme, hosted by the groom’s parents.
A bridesmaids luncheon was hosted by Rosie Smith, aunt of the groom, at 10:30 a.m., October 20, in Washington Park.
The bride is a graduate of East Carolina University and employed as a teacher at Chocowinity Primary School. The groom, also an ECU graduate, is employed by Chase Construction.
The couple’s wedding trip was a November 18 cruise to the Bahamas. They will be residing in Chocowinity, N.C.
