As the Thanksgiving holiday approached, the Sophisticated Ladies of Southside High School were thankful to hear Loretta Ebison, director of the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program for Beaufort County Schools, speak to them Nov. 12 about preventing teen pregnancy.
Ebison told a touching story about her own struggles as a teen mother and her determination to live a successful life.  She became a nurse in order to support herself and her child.  Now the mother of four, Ebison helps teenage mothers in Beaufort County see that they can be successful in their lives.
Ebison gave each Sophisticated Lady a copy of Mike Long’s book Everyone is Not Doing It, along with two brochures from www.liveonpoint.org titled “Is It Love?” and “Welcome to the Game of Chance…Where Players Lose!”
Chynna Bonner, advisor of the Sophisticated Ladies, said, “Mrs. Ebison really gave the ladies some food for thought.”
