RALEIGH (AP) — Five North Carolina teenagers are under arrest, charged in the killing of a homeless man found stuffed in a trash can.
Raleigh Police Department detectives arrested four 15-year-old males and a 13-year-old male in connection with the death of Regynald Jose Brown, a 37-year-old homeless man first reported missing Nov. 20. Brown’s body was found last weekend by friends searching for him near a local greenway.
Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said he couldn’t comment on a potential motive for the killing, but he said detectives had found no evidence the crime was gang-related.
The names of the juvenile suspects have not been released. Four of the five — including the 13-year-old — are charged with murder. The fifth suspect is accused of providing assistance after the murder.
