The Beaufort County Choral Society is sounding the call for all aspiring singers.
According to Monica Ferrari, spokeswoman for the organization, the nonprofit group is seeking voices for its annual spring concert.
“We are appealing to your inner voice that tells you to join us to herald in the spring,” said Ferrari in a press release.
BCCS is widely known for its yearly Christmas concert, a free concert that is open to the public. The group sang holiday favorites to a packed house at the Washington Civic Center on Dec. 14. There’s been no shortage of volunteer voices for the Christmas concerts, according to Ferrari, but numbers for the spring concert are a bit more challenging.
The spring concert of 2012 included a wide range of songs: from Irving Berlin hits to Mozart’s “Ave Vernum Corpus,” performed at downtown Washington’s First Baptist Church and St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath.
Husband-and-wife team conductor Tom and pianist Melissa Feller lead the group in regular rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Blind Center on the corner of Harvey and East Third streets in Washington.
“They bring out our best voices, even though things can get quite comical at times,” Ferrari wrote.
Ferrari stressed that anyone who wants to join in the music is welcome.
“If you think we will ask you to audition, please set aside those concerns,” she wrote. “Your love of singing and desire to attend most rehearsals is all that’s required.”
