William Horace Boyette

William Horace Boyette, 96, of Wilson passed away Monday. Graveside service will be conducted at
2 p.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Doug Murray will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

Horace served in the Army Air Corps in World War II from November 5, 1942 until January 11, 1946. He was stationed in Europe, and rose to the rank of staff sergeant. After the war he returned to Wilson and continued his employment with James I. Miller Tobacco Company and Southern Storage Company which comprised approximately fifty years.

Horace enjoyed many rounds of golf, working countless hours in his yard, and traveling to all fifty states and abroad. He loved his family, and was especially grateful for the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren.

Horace is survived by his daughter, Susan B. Futrell and husband, Brownie of Washington; his son, William H. Boyette, Jr. and wife, Kennon of Wilson; his granddaughter, Nan Liles and husband, Matt of Washington, DC; his grandson, Ace Futrell of Washington and his sister, Dorothy B. Minchew, 99 years young, of Pineville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen Boswell Boyette; his parents, Emmett Boyette and Suzanna Winstead Boyette; his sister Evelyn Wood; and brother, Emmett Boyette.
