Thanks a lot for including Walter Williams’ column in Sunday’s paper. It was really missed the two previous Sundays. Some of us think it adds a whole lot to your paper.

 

I see where they want to build the new jail in an area outside of town. That is probably going to cost the county $1 million a year to transport people from that area back to the courthouse. … That is ridiculous.

 

The county commissioners have done it to us folks in eastern Beaufort County again. First, they put the U.S. Highway 17 bypass on the wrong side of Washington. Now, they are going to put the sheriff’s office and new jail in Pitt County just about. Man, we get what we elect, I guess.

 

That’s just about the dumbest decision the commissioners could have made. Build a parking deck across the street from the Beaufort County Courthouse and put the new jail behind there — the courthouse.
