I’m calling concerning a recent Sound Off. There was a woman trying to get some organization to help her do some repairs on her home. I’d like to find out exactly what she needs doing. Being a life-long resident of Beaufort County, I’m neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but building a jail away from a courthouse really shows a lot ignorance. If they put the jail in the industrial park, they’ll have to change the name of the industrial park to Criminal Park because that’s what they’ll be out there, and I for one would not want a business right next to a jailhouse.

As far as Hood Richardson walking out of the commissioners’ retreat on the vote of the Industrial Park — he’s the only one showing good sense. It’s really a stupid idea to put it far out in the industrial park. So, good for you, Hood Richardson. Keep on going the way you’re going.sss
