Mr. Jesse Thomas “J.T.” Hodges, 88, of Winterville, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Todd McDonald. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Hodges, a native of Beaufort County, moved to Greenville in 1953, and had been a resident of the Winterville community for 34 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the First Infantry Division and participated in the Normandy Invasion. In 1982, he retired from DuPont, as a technical assistant after 30 years of service. A member of Grace Church, Mr. Hodges enjoyed gardening, fishing, and was an avid reader. He also loved pampering his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Stephen Hodges; wife, Nora Edwards Hodges; parents, James Henry and Mary Waters Hodges; brother, James Henry Hodges; and a sister, Allie Grey Alligood.
Surviving are    sons, Randy Hodges and wife, Donna and Ronald Hodges and wife, Pam, all of Winterville; grandchildren, Angie Lamm, of Homestead, FL, Becky Hodges, of Greenville, Ashley Hodges and fiancé, Eddie McMillion, of Greenville, Jacob Guttu Hodges, of Winterville, and Ryan Hodges, of Winterville; great-grandchildren, Jesse Wayne Morgan, of Greenville and Charlise Moore, of Homestead, FL; and a sister, Iris Blankenship, of Virginia Beach, VA.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
