Mr. James Franklin “Frank” Jones, age 80, a resident of Chocowinity, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Haw Branch Church of Christ officiated by Jason Kirkman. Burial will follow in Haw Branch Church Cemetery. Don Morris, Ray Barr, Jay Barr, Robbie Bullock, Gerald Bullock and Allen Bullock will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Frank was born in Beaufort County on August 26, 1932, son of the late James Franklin Jones, Sr. and the late Essie Florence Hill Jones. He was a 1950 graduate of Chocowinity High School. Mr. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Following his military career he worked with the NC Department of Transportation and was a crew leader at the time of his retirement on September 1, 1994. He also was a barber who worked out of his home as long as his health permitted. Mr. Frank was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son: James Rodney Jones and his wife Pam of Gaston, SC; a sister: Mary E. Barr of Chocowinity; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Frank was predeceased by a brother: Richard Thomas Jones; two half brothers: Edward E. Barr and Myron Barr and a half sister: Hazel Marie Bright.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of his sister Mary Barr, 1367 E. Barr Rd., Chocowinity, NC.
