Mr. Kenneth Oscar Cox, age 78, a resident of 1637 N. White Post Rd., Pinetown, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home.
Funeral servic- es will be 2:00 pm Monday, March18,2013 at Everett’s Church of Christ and will be conducted by Dennis Davis, Kent Gurganus and Billy Ray Askew. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Douglas Boyd, Justin Boyd, Garrett Boyd,Jim Woolard,Ed Cherry, Jr. and Brandon Cherry will serve as pallbearers. Tommy Hale, Roger Winstead, Essudore Windley, Alexander Peartree, employees of 3-B Farms, and the elders and deacons of Everett’s Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Cox was born in Beaufort County on June 18, 1934 to the late Tyna Oscar Cox and Lola Ray Waters Cox. On October 21, 1956 he married Ethel Rae “Bobbie” Boyd who survives. He attended Bath High School, farmed, and delivered fuel for FCX and F. Ray Moore Oil Company until 1999. Later he returned to full time farming with 3-B Farms until his retirement in 2011. Mr. Cox was a member of and served as an elder for Everett’s Church of Christ where he was fondly known as the “candy man” and was a member of the Wood- men of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel “Bobbie” Boyd Cox of the home, three daughters, Jennifer Cox Bunn and husband Billy Jr. of Bath, Kenya Cox Pallotta and husband Mike of Toronto, Canada, Amanda Cox Boyd and husband Todd of Pinetown, six grandchildren, Terence Wallace, Savannah Bunn, Alexa Brooks Asby and husband Josh, Austin Brooks and wife Paige, Michael Pallotta, Meredith Boyd, Dawson Boyd, three great grandchildren, Emerson Asby, Paisley Asby, Easton Brooks, one sister, Froceine Cherry and husband Ed, sister-in-law, Sue B. Waters, very special friend, Virginia Everett and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until funeral hour prior to the service at Everett’s Church of Christ and other times at the home.
