Elinor B. Cox, age 85, a resident of 3085 Market Street Ext., Washington, NC went to be with her Lord Saturday, March 16, 2013.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington officiated by Travis Boyd. The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Linda Alligood and husband Danny, located at 1292 Old Bath Highway, Washington, NC.
Mrs. Cox was born April 26, 1927, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Ernest Bassett and Lillian Kimbley Bassett. She married Howard Doug- las Cox on June 25, 1945. Mrs. Cox loved cooking and was well-known for being an excellent seamstress. She was very devoted to her family and especially her husband Doug. Mrs. Cox was a member of Wares Chapel United Methodist Church on Market Street in Washington where she was a member of the choir for twenty years. Along with her husband Howard Douglas “Doug” Cox of the home, survivors include her three nieces, Linda Alligood, Wendy Cox, and Wanda Woolard, all of Wash- ington, NC; nephew, David Cox of Naples, Florida; and brother-in-law, Milton Cox of Washington.
